'Please Don't Let My Baby Die!' Mother Left Devestated After 10-Year-Old Daughter Loses Her Life In Random Shooting In Northeast D.C.

We have to stand together and put the guns down. A 10-year-old girl, later identified as Makiyah Wilson, was killed after a group of masked gunmen opened fire in a courtyard in Northeast Washington D.C. Monday night.

According to The Washington Post, Makiyah was heading to the ice cream truck when she was hit, apparently in the chest, residents said. Witnesses said her mother held her daughter and as tears ran down her face, she cried: "Please don't let my baby die."

Makiyah lost her life at the hospital, according to police. A woman and three men were wounded during the shooting and are currently being treated at a local hospital. The motive is still not known, and whether or not the gunmen targeted someone specifically.

Makiyah's mother, Donnetta Wilson, broke down as she talked about her daughter on Tuesday. "She was an amazing little girl an outstanding bright 10-year-old," Wilson said. "I just miss my daughter."

"She wanted to conquer the world," she continued.

Police are looking for a black Infiniti four-door sedan that's missing its rear bumper.
