23-Year-Old Father Fatally Shoot Him Self And His 1-Year-Old Daughter Cause Mother Never Allowed Him Have Her

Lavonta Lloyd, 23-year-old shot and killed his 1-year-old daughter Kamaya before tuning the gun on him self.

Sheriff Willie March said it was the third day this week that 23-year-old Lavonta Lloyd has sought to take the girl from her mother.

March said Lloyd first took his daughter Kamaya Lloyd from a day care on Monday, but was returned to her mother later that evening.

On Thursday, the grandmother of Loyd's child called police early in the morning to say Lloyd was holding her daughter at gunpoint but before reaching a roadblock, Lloyd's truck veered off the road and into a deep ditch near Moorhead, in Sunflower County.

Police records show Lloyd was arrested twice in Jackson on domestic violence charges in 2016 and 2017
